Megrhythm Steam Eye Mask

Sponsored Review

How many of you uses the computer, or at least uses your eyes extensively, for multiple hours a day?

If you are like me who loves watching drama series on the internet or simply just using the computer for recreational purposes, you might have also experience dry, tired eyes. Not only so, as students, we have to spend long hours each day poring our our notes and revision materials, which makes our eyes even more strained and lethargic at the end of a long day.

After a hectic day at work or at school, how do you usually relax?

Gradbear sleeping with his eyes open
For me, I like lazing around on the bed and taking naps, even if I am not that tired, I just like snuggling into my comforter because it feels that great.

Cereal?
Eating is definitely another top option!

Recently I am introduced to another method of relaxation that will not only help to soothe my eyes but also rejuvenate them- needless to say, I was extremely excited to try it out.

Unscented Steam Eye mask
This is the Steam Eye Mask by Kao, and it is supposed to produce steam naturally (meaning you don't have to do anything but to put it on) when you open the sachet, heating up the mask to about 40 degree celsius or a little more/less to destress your eyes. After a long day of using your eyes at work, why not pamper your eyes?

A box like the one above contains 5 pieces of masks.

A single sachet looks like that:

This is how the eye mask looks inside the sachet.

I thought it was super interesting that Kao paid attention to put the cute purple and white spotted pattern on the mask: I didn't expect them to be so detailed, I mean afterall, it is just a use and throw kind of mask right?

This is the other side that you will see.

You are supposed to gently break apart the joining segment in the center so that you can tuck each ear into the respective hole to hook the eyemask close to your eyes. Please try not to be a genius like my mom and yank out the entire ear-hook thinking that it is the protective sheet, hehe xD

It will then look like that! There, you can wear it!

Impression
I have used the mask three times so far, and I am pretty impressed with how well it can warm up once it has been exposed to air. For myself, as I spend long hours using the computer and reading my school notes, my eyes get tired really easily, and tend to feel really dry and sometimes blurred which is why such eye relaxation is really necessary to ensure the long term benefit of our eyes.

If you are busy person like I am, and have really little time to relax your eyes, or you just don't want to spend too much time go for SPAs and facials or sit with a face mask, then you can consider this! The steam eye mask treatment requires a mere 10 MINUTES to refresh and brighten up your eyes!

The gentle heating from the mask is a refreshing change from all the previous cold gel eye mask that I have to pre-cool in the fridge before use, and this one is so much more convenient and really really innovative! I feel that the lovely heat is especially good in winter and in air-conditioned spaces, where my eyeballs tend to feel drier and maybe even colder?

I also love the fact that the product is super hygienic because each mask is for single use only (so never never try to microwave or heat up a used one please!) and packaged into individual sachets for convenient usage. Afterwards you can just throw the package and the mask away! :)

Not only so, the loops for the ears also mean that you can use the mask in any position as it will NOT fall from your face whilst you are enjoying the steaming session!

Check out the video demonstration!

Here is a demonstration of myself with the mask, and sorry for the really messy hair and everything because I sort of dozed off whilst using it... xD

Oh yes, from experience, sometimes the warmth may not be comfortable for yourself, depending on the individual really. If you think that you feel the mask getting a little warmer than you like, here is the trick to using it: don't hook your ears!

In that way, it won't be plastered so closely to your face and also enable airflow around your eyes such that the temperature is comfortable! :)

Four fragrances available!
Steam eye mask is available in four different fragrances! Mmm..aromatherapy whilst enjoying the mask? Sounds good to me!

If you are interested to try out a mask, do head over to http://web.kao.com/sg/megrhythm/ to request for a sample! It is really worth a try and somemore they will mail the item to you, so why not right? If you are already convinced and can't wait to buy these, you can get them at Watsons and Guardian outlets!

Wait wait, there is more! There is an ongoing instagram contest held by Kao where 10 lucky winners get to walk away with the steam eye mask sets worth $50! The winners will be announced by the 7th of August 2014~!

The contest is ending 31st of July, so head over to Instagram and follow @MegRhythmSG to find out more!

Till next time, see you!

Klarity Lasertox CC Miracle White Lotion

Sponsored Review

Looking for something to help you lighten your skin? Why not check out Lasertox by Klarity?

Lasertox CC cream by Klarity
I was amazed when I received the product, I mean, just check out the beautiful and mysterious shimmering surface: the multi-coloured hue reminds me of the glittering faces of a well-polished diamond.

About the Product
Lasertox CC cream is enriched with diamond powder, which is supposed to give you a healthy glow after application. Not only so, it also has the added goodness of rose extract that is a powerful source of antioxidants that will help to keep you skin youthful.

Upon further research, I was amazed to find out that rose extract is not only a powerful anti-oxidant, but also great in reducing acne scars (and other scarring) as well as blemishes, as it contains "80% essential fatty acids which help to regenerate skin cells and repair damaged skin tissue" (source)

Thus when you are using the CC cream, you are not only improving the temporary appearance of your skin through a superficial coverage, but also improving the long term condition of the skin through the benefits of rose extract.

Klarity Lasertox CC Miracle White Lotion
As you can see from the picture above, Lasertox CC is the first CC cream without colorant, which explains why the product is a white shade, instead of the skin-colored tones we usually see in BB and CC creams.

Not only so the CC cream is waterproof, which means that it is suitable for you to wear to the beach or on rainy days where you would come into contact with the water for sure: we won't want streaks of white to be running down our face, would we?

Check out the 11-in-1 functions of Lasertox - warning - be prepared to be amazed:

WHITENING
PURIFY
REPAIR
FIRMING
SMOOTH
SOOTHE
HYDRATE
TONE
ANTI-AGING
SUN-SCREEN
WATER-PROOF
Can we say wow?

You would think that with all the water-proof, soothing, hydrating and lightening functions, the cream is going to be thick and un-breathable on the skin: that's where you are wrong.

Contrary to my initial belief that I would have all the pores on my skin clogged up, the CC cream is actually very very light, cooling and feels like a comfortable moisturizer on the skin rather than the heavier texture of BB creams. Furthermore, there is no need to worry about it clogging your pores as it is non-comedogenic!

Not only so it is supposed to help reduce acne, lighten acne marks, soothe itchiness, and lighten scar marks over time, remember the rose extract?

Experience
Let us first talk about the smell.

Lasertox has a light sweet scent that is comfortable and not overpowering, and I love this factor about it as other BB and CC creams tend to have this chemical-cosmetic smell in them that may be quite unpleasant at times.

And imagine you have to wear that CC cream everyday at work out when you are out, of course you want to smell faintly of roses than a chemical spill right?

Not only so, it provides a good adjustable coverage for the skin. This means that depending on the amount applied, you can either lighten you skin tone by perhaps half a shade to one shade. This is a clear advantage over the heavier coverage provided by my old BB cream, with those you just look one uniform shade, without being able to control the colour much.

I have demonstrated in the photo how the skin will appear with and without the cream: yes I am aware that the paler side looks too pale, but that is only because I layered on the cream thrice as the camera could not properly capture the difference initially. So I thought I would put more to make the difference clearer~!

When I put on the first later with a pea-sized amount of cream, my skin just looked more radiant and smooth, without observable lightening effect. With the second repeat, it became considerably lighter and brighter, which I think is the suitable shade for daily use. The third repeat was really just for my incompetent camera  xD

I tried it on my face as well, and it felt great, like a fresh, hydrating lotion that doubled as a sunblock and blemish-coverage. It is not too sticky, and most of the lotion are absorbed by the skin after five minutes, leaving a healthy, hydrated glow frequently seen in Korean stars.

If you are interested in the product, do head over to Secretive.sg and check out their demonstration video as well as other Klarity products. 30g of Lasertox cost S$29.00, but it can last you for quite a while as you don't have to apply copious amount each time: a small amount already does the trick!

Sweaty palms & fingers and fibrous skulls

I have really sweaty palms and fingers, and it becomes especially obvious when I am in an air-conditioned room or when I hold a pen for an extended period of time.

Sometimes I wet the paper I am writing in with blotches of dampness because of my overactive palmic-sweat glands.

I drew you guys a picture to demonstrate how the sweat glands/ cells in my palm and fingers work.

I suppose it could be rather disturbing on a molecular level.

Overactive sweat glands
I really don't find my palms sweaty at room temperature, it is always in air-conditioned room that my palms are exceptionally sweaty, like the colder my body gets, the warmer my palms are.

Sometimes they get like really clammy and cold. My mom calls it the "reptile-hands".

Not too enticing an idea, me thinks.

This is my artistic impression of an overactive sweat cell/ gland.

The greatest disadvantage about have sweaty palms is that I always end up smudging what I write on my homework, or leaving damp round blobs where I rest my left palm to hold the paper in place, or multiple tiny round blobs where I cautiously pressed the paper down with just a few fingers.

I think that teachers sometimes suspect that homework depresses me so much that I cry onto it while attempting them, since my paper is often crinkling and looked like they had dried from some unidentified puddles.

I tried to imagine if my General Paper teacher ever asked me about why my homework looks flimsy, crinkly and damp.

I would be like,
"I can't help it ma'am, my palms and fingers drool onto the worksheet."

I drew a picture of myself looking perfectly stern whilst explaining that.

I can sort of predict my GP teacher's reaction.

To the minds of detractors, every reason could be an excuse.

Personally, I wouldn't believe it if someone handed me a soaked piece of work and claimed that their palms sweated onto it. I would wonder if they were so hardworking that they did the work while bathing.

Anyway, I don't really like my sweaty palms or fingers, just saying.

~*~

I was also told a while ago by a friend that when you get brain tumors, your skull will supposedly change shape.

I thought it was the oddest and most un-biological thing I have heard.

According to my friend, we should be able to feel it on our head if we have a brain tumor because our skull will sort of convex out when there is a tumor.

"Your skull is fibrous."
I tried to imagine it in a biological way, but I couldn't. So I had to dramatize this in the manner of a cartoon.

Yes, your tumor will ostensibly deform your skull.

The argument went like that:
Another friend of ours complained of a persistent migraine and wondered out loud if it could be a brain tumor, at which my friend with the fibrous-skull claimed that if you have a tumor, you should be able to feel a lump on your head: if you don't feel a lump, then you don't have a tumor.

I tried to tell the person with the fibrous-skull that you cannot possibly feel a tumor on your head because you have a skull, and your tumor grows inside the skull.

He confidently told me that nope, your skull will protrude because your skull "is fibrous and will change shape".

I privately disagreed with him, but because he is a person who likes to pursue his point until everyone concedes and also because it was during a lesson, I decided to just nod and agree with him.

After which I asked Clarissa and Denyse, because I was too lazy to google that.

Our conversation went like that:
Clarissa: Does he learn biology?
Me: Nope, I don't think so.
Clarissa: Figures.
Denyse: You can't feel a tumor through the skull! If your skull deforms that easily then you would have cracked it long ago.
I thought they made sense. I mean, if my skull was that malleable, mine would have resembled the surface of the moon from all the times I cracked my head against hard surfaces right?

I asked my mom too and she figured that if we could feel for brain tumors, why bother doing CT scan? I thought that was a good point.

But still, I am curious. Does anyone know for sure? Or won't mind checking and telling me? I really want to know, heh.

Tell next time, see you all!

Facebook :/

One of our life's greatest arrogance is the assumption that others are automatically interested in our affairs.

Yup, I am closing my Facebook account again this time, and hopefully I won't bother opening it again anytime before Block Test 2 (and hopefully won't open it after Block Test 2).

Before you partake in some conclusion jumping and finger pointing, hear me out. I am not closing it entirely due to exams: closing an account never necessitates good revision, it produces a facade of diligence. If you are unmotivated and distracted (like I have been in the past Term), closing Facebook is not going to help you (much).

I am shutting it primarily because I can't even remember why I decided to reopen it in the first place. Maybe reading some news updates from History and Current Affairs society was mildly enriching, as was checking out some things I have missed in the two months plus of absence from the buzzing social media. Oh, maybe the updates from Chalany High Heels was rather cool too, not to mention very very distracting.

Anyways, maybe it is part of the phase that I am going through that I am increasingly hermetic and anti-social because I am so very exhausted most of the time, both mentally and physically. Or it could be how everything is wearing out my nerve endings, leaving me short fused and impatient. In summary, I am too tired to be interested in what is going on in the school social life, because knowing things is tiring in itself. Not to mention that it takes up some memory space.

I came to the realization that the day we stopped updating everything single thing that passes through our mind, every change of emotions and sentiments and every thing that we do on the internet is the day we realize that perhaps, no one is seriously going to be interested in what we are saying. It is like entering this room crowded with people and everyone is talking and commenting simultaneously, listening with the intent of replying rather than understanding. Facebook, at times, felt like a stifling, virtual version of real life.

More than that, Facebook felt like a modernized Vanity Fair (I need to get this book, it is no more than $5.00 in Popular, and the low price feel like a back-handed insult to Thackeray). Selfies, groupies, selca, OOTD, Hair-of-the-day, Nonsense-of-the-day are all tolerable individually, but when presented as a whole, it becomes tedious and exhausting.

I am as guilty as charged for being a participant in the Vanity Fair that I have only so lately come to recognize it for itself, and I suppose that it could be an anti-movement against the internet and social-hub? Is that what you call it? I sometimes didn't want to be an active part of the activity that was both tiring and in a manner, staged. At other times, I too indulge in it.

There is so much conflict and dilemma, confusion and an undercurrent of stress and annoyance. So, no more facebook, no more scowling at people's posts or making funny faces.

Forget RIP maybe? Start LIP: Live In Peace instead.

P.S. This Friday to next Monday are going to be some really terribly tough days, I hope I can push through without short-circuiting or snapping at people...too much.

Sexy Look Micro Inject Mask

Sponsored Review

Sexy look Micro Inject mask
Not long ago I shared with you the Glacier masks that were incredibly thin, and to my great surprise, these Micro Inject masks are on par with the Glacier masks in terms of thinness!

Microinject mask
As you could see from the promotional poster above, the Micro Inject masks are exceedingly thin which makes adherence to skin so much easier than thicker masks.

The masks that I received to try and review are the aloe vera ones, and I like the fact that they do not have an overwhelming scent on them.

These masks are soft and gentle on the skin and non scratchy, and they fit like a second layer to the skin.

Apart from that, I also feel that it has excellent hydration effects, probably due to the better adhesion and its laudable water retention qualities that enable it to transfer most of the essence onto the skin rather than to have them left behind in the bag.

Overall, I will rate this masks a five out of five because it is comfortable, breathable and hydrating.

"The Latest Technology in Japan – Double penetration effect with skin friendly natural fibre and precise ergonomic design, too! Unique hydronet helps pump up skin to look younger and healthier."
If you are interested to try out these masks, head over to Secretive Micro Inject Masks to order one today for just $3.50!

Till next time, bye!

Lovemore Water Beauty Series

Sponsored Review

I haven't tried many facial masks in a while, and this set of Lovemore Water Beauty Series masks took me by pleasant surprise!

Lovemore Water Beauty Series

The packaging is simply adorable!

Anyways, back to the main point. As you all know, I am very particular about the smell of masks because, after all, you have to leave it on your face, close to your nose for at least 10-15 minutes, and it does not do well when the mask has an unpleasant smell, or an overly sweet scent that gives headache.

This is why I am super pleased that Lovemore Water Beauty mask has a light, slightly sweet, minty and very pleasant scent that appeals to one's sense of smell. Hence, first round of inspection by me, passed!

The second fantastic thing about this mask is the fact that it is very extremely thin, and as a result it fits perfectly onto one's skin, almost like a second, thinner, breathable layer that molds in perfect harmony to one's own.

I am super sorry that I have to recycle an old picture, because for some reason I am inapt at handling my camera phone and cannot send the picture to myself properly, so please bear with the one below.

Do you see the mask? It is the thin membranous layer in between the blue sheet and the shiny plastic layer: all this to prevent the mask from tangling within itself because it is that thin.

Verdict? I LOVE IT. I mean, have you ever been tired of putting on facial masks that feels like putting on a canvas onto your face: super heavy, thick, doesn't adhere well and peels here and then, and even worse, when you try to sit down and read a book...drip...drip, all the essence falls onto the book, damaging it?

This is exactly why thin masks are so amazing. Not only do they adhere well to the skin and not miss a spot at all, it has surprisingly good capacity to hold the essence in the mask and then transfer it to the skin, instead of having all the essence dripping like water from a faulty tap.

Not only so, it debunks the myth that thin masks cannot hold essence well, eh?

On top of it all, your skin can breathe while using the mask, and that is important because some masks do make one feel rather stuffy and suffocated.

More importantly, these masks have very good hydrating effects, and it serves to really freshen up the skin and replenish all the moisture that one might have lost throughout the day. Furthermore, I was also pleasantly amazed by how it can brighten and clear up the skin tone so much more, like it has just purified the pores of my skin. The relatively long lasting fresh feeling after usage is also part of the pros of the mask.

There are three types of masks in this series:

I am totally in love with the Glacier masks, but I think when I finish mine, I will give the others a try too!

See the information at the back? According to them, it is made of 100% pure silk, which explains why the mask is so soft and comfortable. Heavy cotton ones are less comfortable, in my opinion.

You can now purchase these wonderful masks on Secretive's website, at a price of S$13.90 for 5 masks! I think it is a decent price, especially since the mask has wonderful hydrating effects and leaves the skin much more supple and radiant.

Check out their supply of Lovemore masks here!

Why not head over to their site now and choose a mask that suits yourself? You can start moisturizing and maintaining your skin from today!

Comments

The best thing about the cleanser is that it foams very well and can remove makeup like bb cream and CC cream really well. Since I am a student, I don't wear other make up apart from BB cream (partly because my sunblock expired and was thrown away) for UV protection. It is a hassle to have to use make up remover to wipe away the BB cream each time I return from home, and the yogurt cleanser offers a simple and refreshing alternative!

The interior

The smell of the cleanser is my favorite: it is the smell of genuine strawberry yogurt, and if not for the fact that it was labelled, I would have thought it was edible! The fluffy pink, the packaging, the spoon and even the whipped cream look of the cleanser all amazed me to no end: Koreans are so creative in their product packaging!

while using the cleanser
after using the cleanser
In the photo on the left, I was washing my face whilst trying to take a photo, since the sponsors suggest that the user may want to see the foaming, but the photo does not do the foam justice. Due to the lighting and also the pale color of the foam, it can't really been seen on the picture, unless you squint at my eyebrow: there is a huge patch of white, and that's the cleanser.

It removes oil fabulously and leaves a fresh feeling after that.

If you all are interested, it can be purchased from Guardian only in the month of April this year, so you have to hurry down if you want one!

Till next time, bye!

Beautiful Hair with Moroccan Argan Oil

Sponsored Review + Tutorial

Hi Lovelies! I am back with another review of Moroccan Argan Oil (MAO) by Seven Wonders, Natural Skincare!
Moroccan Argan Oil
As the recent weather has been a mix of extended dry spells and humid wet weather, I felt as if it has taken a further toll on my hair and made it even more frizzy and unmanageable. Do you guys face the same problem? It is like, if I wash my hair daily, then my hair dries out and my scalp feels great and clean, while if I wash my hair every other day, my scalp is itchy and oily while my hair feels great.

Is there even a compromise?

That was when I remembered this little bottle of "liquid gold" as the others called it, as it not only expensive but have many beneficial properties.

I am not going to list all the properties here and bore you with it, but you can sure go ahead and google for the benefits if you are interested! Instead, let me share with you how you can use it to improve your hair condition! :))

For me, because I am washing my hair daily, there is a tendency for my hair to dry out after each wash and look really really dry, frizzy and unkempt, which is why I feel the need to use this to add back the original oil that has been stripped away from my hair.

Basically after washing your hair, and waiting for you hair to dry naturally because I think using a blow-dryer will worsen the dry-split-damaged hair condition, pump like a little bit of the oil onto your palm. It should be around this much if your hair is my length.

Yikes, you get to see the dried, damaged hair of mine in its full glory: it is always like that after washing \(v_v)/ but it will get so much better after a day, especially when I take the effort to put in MAO. (heh for the acronym)

Yes, really frizzed out hair.
Amt to use! \(^v^)/
Rub your palms together lightly, then apply the oil to the length of your hair, focusing on the end of the hair, like rub slightly more vigorously. Run your hands through your hair as many times as you think necessary, brushing through it gently.

After that just rub whatever that is left on your hands on the surface of your hair, and the reason why we don't do that from the start is because that would mean most of the oil go onto the surface, and it would create an oily, unpleasant look rather than the healthier shine. :D

Yup, that's all for taking care of your hair! Hope you find this hair tutorial useful, especially because healthy shiny hair is the basis of all beautiful hair!

Oh yes, before I end, if you are dying to try out the MAO but too lazy/ stingy to buy one from Watsons/Guardian for S$25.00, I suggest that you head over to Moroccan Argan Oil Facebook Page to like them and keep updated of their frequent giveaways. Only recently they gave away 30 bottles of the oil, and you could very well be the next winner!

Cheers and stay beautiful! :)

Post exam shopping and stuff(:

Block test one finally ended, and towards the end, it was more like "wish it would end" rather than "I wanna do well!"

The day when blocks ended I went home ate and slept for the whole day. It was pure nirvana I swear.

Okie so I went out with mom the next day for food and then we shopped around.

First off at Popular...

AND IS THIS NOT LIKE THE CUTEST WALLET EVER AHAHA!
Please DO NOT buy me this, I am serious. I won't be able to use it. :D

HAHA a larger version! so cute!

Okay so here is the shallow part of my blog, with selfies and what not.
I see the first one as a potential DP! Bahahahaha.

I bought the white outfit with skirt in the end because I really liked it! :).

And I tried the blue blouse, it was pretty good, but I didn't want to buy so many. I tend to feel guilty if I buy too much things.

P.S. I think contacts are wayyyyy better than specs. I mean I look so much younger!
But aiyah not worth the trouble, like cornea abrasions and what nots haha..

While we were waiting for food, there was a burst of sun, so of course I had to take selfie right! (Partly because it was a new phone heh xD)

For those of you who keep asking about the eyes, yes it is contact lenses (black, diameter 16.5mm, I think it is barbie if I am not wrong, and I bought them from here)

Lust to Lush is fantastic for me, because I can buy just one pair at a time, for mine it is only S$9.00, with mailing it is 10 bucks. Still pretty good. I like the ones I am wearing because they can be put in super easily, unlike Clearlab, whose lenses I always have trouble putting them in. Both are comfortable, it is just that the curvature is different, me thinks?

Anyway, Lust to Lush is fabulous, just saying :D

(Wow okay, the eyes are really a bit too shiny, blearrrgh)

Yep, and I got a pair of heels at a good price, will post photo sometime later.

ASEAN youth forum today, damn tiring and hot and tedious, but I made friends! I liked everyone in my group muhhahas :) They were so nice:)

Yes, that's me again, a very sad photo because I was so tired and warm, but hey the lighting it good. What do we do when there is good lighting?

WE ZIPAI AND ZILIAN shamelessly.

Like what I do.

Yeah come Monday I will stop because school starts and school always kills my spirit.

Oh yes yes, for my coming birthday, just in case you like Den or Sluggy who like people to tell them what to buy, you can get me any of the following!
  • Old Town White Coffee, hazelnut is preferred.
  • Pilot Maica pens (black/blueblack/blue/purple/brown)
  • Contact lens (black/brown) from Lust to lush (degrees: 4.5 and 5.0)
  • CUTE stuffed toys

I know it is like "aiyo so shameless" but isn't it better than people spending a lot of money buying you stuff that you don't dare to use? Because it is too nice and too expensive? Like I get wayyy too expensive diaries and stuff, from HQ and Sluggy. Ooah, okay maybe I should feel paiseh....

Please don't buy anything too expensive, like please please because I will feel really bad, and I don't have enough money to buy you stuff that's equally nice. Like that time Sluggy and JQ got me headphones that is close to $70, and till now I haven't gotten JQ anything good enough (but this year I have surprise for her, shhhh! :)))) *squeals in delight*). Sofffyyyy is okie I guess?

And if your birthday is coming, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO BUY! I really don't want to get you things that you are not going to use/ shelve away, so please tell me what you like? Like don't need to be shy de, because I will really appreciate it if you just tell me what to get! :)) Like Den, JQ, Leon (harrrrumph) and etc.

BUT NVM HAH, who cares. ^^||

Okie, that's all for now, will update about Asean Youth Forum soon! :))
