Vivocity, Daiso, Food~~!

I went Vivocity with Denyse and Clarissa to relax after Block Test 2!

We ate at the food court upstairs, and though my food looks really nice, it is honestly not that worth it. Why?

IT IS FREAKING $7.70.
JUST FOR BLOODY MIXED RICE.

Over-priced Vivo food.

Like com'on. If I order like a bazillion meat or fish or something, then $7.70 is still a reasonable price. But hell no. I just got like sweet and sour pork (which tasted bloody disgusting, not even gonna mince words for it), toufu and Shitake mushrooms and it costed $7.70.

NOT WORTH IT. NOT WORTH I AT ALL.

Anyway, the sweet and sour pork was lousy because it tasted like just fried mish-mash of really tough and stale pork bits, and I couldn't even chew through it properly without having things stuck within my teeth. Urgh!

Don't buy from that stall! Can't remember exact name, but it is called some "curry on rice" stall in chinese. The attendees there cheat money one lor.

The soup was like so-so.
 Daiso Snacks
I know I know! People always say Daiso snacks are not worth it, and I agree! But the caramel corn snacks are fabulous and I can't get them cheaper anywhere else!

I actually ate one pack of the caramel corn on the way home, so I bought 3 initially, whilst I ate another same one yesterday....so woah $8 all gone on snacks.

Daiso Caramel Corn, almond and chocolate

I also bought a wallet at the IMM Daiso for myself yesterday! Okay, my mom bought it, same difference. Nice right? I love the transparent strip in the center!
Pink Daiso Carrier
Daiso case. Also available in hot pink and black.
And I got free Kotex Samples!!! 2 boxes somemore! (I asked the nice person on duty to give me haha xD)
Same carrier with stuff inside!

Free Kotex Samples
They were giving this out for free outside Scape. I was like, "I WANT I WANT!" Denyse and Clarissa were like, "Go ask for it."

Of course I did.

Kotex pads muahaha.
Okay, I am kinda tired from all the typing...I will end off with some photos from IMM Daiso!

Shuttle to IMM! So cute!

Din Tai Fung Restaurant Review

Food Review

Yesterday my mom and I went to Jurong Point for food, and we really wanted to eat at Crystal Jade Restaurant, but it was like under renovation or something, so we had no choice but to change a place.

Since my mom had seen Din Tai Fung several times whilst passing, we thought we could try the food there, since you know, both are sort of like dim sum and Chinese food serving restaurants!

Here is how the Din Tai Fung at Jurong Point looks like, I didn't snap a picture, and the follow picture is taken from source.

Photosource
The table for two are relatively small and cozy, and I though the way they arranged the ginger on the condiment dishes was really cute! Normally restaurants just  "piak" (randomly slap) some ginger onto the dishes, but here they squeeze them into nice tapered shapes, hehe. ^u^

I didn't exactly like the table because it looked so old, but at the same time I liked the fact that this means that DTF is exo-friendly (I hope) since they don't throw out more worn tables.

Sze Chuan Ma La (Spicy) Soup from Din Tai Fung, Medium, $8.00
Since we really liked the Sze Chuan Ma La soup (Sze Chuan Spicy soup) from Crystal Jade, we happily ordered the same soup here! Woah look at the portion! This is medium sized soup, and compared to Crystal Jade, it is a really large portion, for just $8.00!! A small portion in DTF will cost you only $6.00, which is not too pricey either.

Sze Chuan Ma La (Spicy) Soup from Din Tai Fung, Medium, $8.00
For the soup, it is not as flavorful as I had expected it to be, like maybe a little more watery than expected? However, overall the flavor of tangi-ness and spiciness is still there, and it is really value for money! It also managed to retain the fragrance of the sze chuan spicy soup. I would probably grade it a 8/10!

Kao Fu (Wheat Gluten), $4.80
Braised wheat gluten was relatively decent, and I like the fact that it is so cheap, because com'on very rarely do restaurants have like things under $5.00!! The kaofu (brown pieces) are lukewarm, quite yummy, the bamboo shoots (off-white squares on top) are like not really bamboo-ish tasting but still passable. The black fungus is quite uck and unfresh in my opinion, and the shitake strips are generally no good.

Kao Fu (Wheat Gluten) from Din Tai Fung, $4.80
I have no idea why, but my mom loves it, and even though taste-wise it is not bad, but I was really expecting a lot from DTF since I heard so much about it and people have praised it so much before my mom and myself, so the Kao Fu was actually rather disappointing.

I think the key issue is that the Kaofu taste like it is from canned food rather than you know, the dried "fresh" ones which you have to soak and then cook from scratch. The shitake, the bamboo and the black fungus just all have the same canned food taste, which disappointed me a bit I guess. x( Overall I would give it a 7/10, but my mum argues for a 8/10. Okay, 8/10 it is then, since the price is very pleasing.

Beef Brisket Noodles $12.00

My mom loves beef, so she was like over-excited when she saw the beef noodles, and whoo! She ordered this. Here is what we think of the noodles:

The serving is really really super generous. To the point where there are way too much beef and way too much noodles. That's not a bad thing, I mean it is good, especially for people who have huge appetites (like me, if I had not ate like half the bowl of that yummy spicy soup).

But then the noodles are too plain, in the sense that there is nothing else in the bowl apart from BEEF BEEF BEEF. Yes yes, I know. The photo on the menu showed us there is none. But that's why this beef noodles is not really that appetizing when you see it in real life. It is just a never-ending expanse of beeeeeef! Okay, rant over.

Din Tai Fung Beef Brisket Noodles, $12
If you are a beef-noodles lover, I would recommend you to try out Lai Lai Lai Beef Noodles at Jurong Point, same floor as Din Tai Fung, outside the Cocoa Trees instead. Their beef noodles are spaced with greens, and bursting with so much more flavor. As for these noodles, we give it a 5/10.

Egg fried Rice with Grilled Pork, $10.80

Actually, I quite like this dish. Although yes, I have a lot of complaints about it, overall, I still think it is quite yummy and the pork was tender and very nicely flavored and grilled, all the way to the center. It is really quite fragrant and succulent, but here is the same problem: too much pork. Like my entire fried rice is covered with these giant slabs of pork pork pork and when things exist in great quantity, it has like this de-appetizing effect.
Egg fried Rice with Grilled Pork, $10.80
Not only so, the fried rice was really really oily, like when we were almost done with the rice, we could see bright yellow, rather copious amount of oil on the plate, and then I didn't finish my rice since the sight wasn't so pleasant.  I didn't finish the pork either, even though my mom helped me eat like 3 slices, I still have 2 more leftover. Too much pork.

However, this set is still delicious, and yes I won't hesitate to order it again because it is really not bad! I am not going to complain about too much food when I can share it with a friend right! So I like this, 9/10!

Haha cute random picture of a chick! Guess where it was found in?

YES IT IS A XIAO LONG PAO!!!!
Xiao Long Pao
I have no idea why I could NOT flip the pao over to show you how it looks upright, despite me trying so many times. Now I have so many of the same pau in my picture folder, labelled "pau 1" "pau 2", "pau 3" and "pau pau". Gah.

Anyways. Verdict. No good. Not nice. Not enough "juice" or soup in the pao, and I don't like the mixture of veggy-chicken filling either, like the balance just wasn't there! Overall, 4/10, 1 mark unfairly deducted for being a stupid upside-down pau!

Annoyed~~with the pau.

Okay~~~! That's all for Din Tai Fung! Hope you enjoyed reading my post and see you all!

Maths

Okay, because I have a Maths Test (Paper 2 - Statistics and Pure) on Tuesday, which is tomorrow, I have been doing copious amounts of maths in the past few days.

Okay not as copious as you might have imagined, like not to the extent that I go about completing every single revision question in that freaking thick revision booklet, but waaaay more than I usually do.

Usually I don't do maths.

Why?

Because maths is disgusting and mind-blowing and un-environmentally friendly. When I do maths I feel myself morphing into the paper-devouring zombie who has really bad temper and has the tendency to finish HALF a stack of foolscap paper just to do 1 chapter of bloody maths question.

What is even worst is not even the tedious, eye-drying, blood-curdling process of ploughing your way through a seemingly endless list of "what is the probability of blah?" or "using suitable approximation to blah blah blah...", although it is rather hard to think of another activity on par with the level of terror.

Nope. What is most terrifying is when you have to mark your own maths against the answers and solutions provided.

Oh!!!! The horrors and absolute pain of snailing my way through my horrendous mess of numbers and alphabets, checking the answers against the mark sheet! It is like, the numbers and the letters all swim before my eyes, my eyes cross and my brain seem to turn into absolute mush.

I think I grumbled about that some time ago:

My Epiphany
Yes. Maths is not just non-nutritional to me. It is at wars with my inner system, it slows down my metabolism and it puts my brain into a semi-comatose state whereby half my brain cells either frazzle out or stop functioning.

It is carcinogenic, its painful, it is bad for my health and for my skin. ARGHHH!

Imagine waking up to Maths grinning at you like "DO ME!", and going to sleep knowing full well that the next day you have to do more of it.

My liver hurts just from thinking about it. RAWR

Ye Shi Ren Sheng 05/07/14 Recap + Updates

Okay, I realized that a lot of you are trying to find out more about what happened in this tediously long, 940 hours (yes I actually googled that) drama called Ye Shi Ren Sheng 夜市人生 or Night Market Life.

To be perfectly honest, the recent couple of episodes that have been airing in Singapore has been quite anticlimax because:

  1. Zhou Xiu Xiu (and Xu Laifa) have been seen through for their evil conniving scheme of trying to cheat Chen Heqian of a branch of his hospital (which translates into cheating his money, eh?)
  2. I can't even think of another reason why. It is just rather drony now.
Anyways, an update to you guys who have been too busy or lazy to keep track of the episodes, here are what have transpired generally (although my knowledge may be fragmented because I don't watch the whole episodes unless I have nothing else to do).

Amy and her business partner, Shi Hao, have been cheating on Shi Hao's wife, Yu Hua (or Yue Hwa?), quite shamelessly, I might say. Because you would expect Amy, who was a victim of a third-party intrusion in her marriage life with Dafeng, would have the decency to not be an evil-beevil and do the same thing to other people right? But nope of course not, there is not such thing as "Do not do unto others what you do not want others to do unto you" in this drama.

Okay, their cheating on Yu Hua is so unbearable to watch because Yu Hua is not only like extremely sweet to Amy (defending her against the horrible snob of Ding Peiqi), and also always trying to make Amy feel included by inviting her to dinners at home etc. But of course, she is also rather naive because there is one episode whereby she kept trying to make her husband (Shi Hao), praise the earrings she bought for Amy. Not smart.

In the episode that showed yesterday (5th of July), Amy was trying to ask Yu Hua to teach her how to cook dishes, so that she could cook for Shihao. I was like "wow" at that scene because can you imagine? It is like stab a knife into your back, and slowly carving your ribs out. Yeowch.

Anyway, I have never really liked Amy or pitied her even during her period of abuse under Dafeng.

Oh yeah, then we have tons of Ding Peiqi drama, whose character I feel like is an insanely annoying and horrendously stuck-up one. It is like, I couldn't even find something redeeming within her character. She is annoying, she is arrogant, she is rude, she has no respect for anyone and expects everyone to respect and curry favor to her, and as a supposed government figure within the drama, she has no qualms about resorting to dirty tricks and gangster methods of threat.

In all, she is truly a morally reprehensible character.

I was in full glee yesterday because she and Dafeng had this like big row, whereby she (like usual) was threatening Dafeng to go and socialize with the political figures with her or else she will stop supporting him etc.

Now, Dafeng who had been tolerating her overbearing ways all the way till now, and letting her insult and step over him and his mother for so long, finally decided that he had had enough and ignored her. Not that I feel any pity for Dafeng because he is such a cold-blooded, exceedingly pragmatic to the point of horrid person, I still liked watching Ding being taken down a peg or two.

So basically, Ding was throwing her weight around by repeatedly yelling and thretening Dafeng, and Dafeng sort of pointed out to her that she wasn't that influential a politician, because they lost some project to Youzhi despite pulling out all their underhanded tricks. (I say, "HA! In your face!")

So Ding was legitimately pissed of and accused Dafeng of being a cold-blooded animal who only abuse her for gains and never treated her right, despite her "sloughing her guts out" and antagonizing a lot of people for his sake. (To be fair, she never treated him right either.)

Now, the point here is that when Dafeng started pursuing Ding, we all know that he is doing it to further his business. Even Ding knows that, and she put on this snobbish air of "I-am-far-far-above-all-your-calculated-wooing" and acted all coy. Then whabaam! Suddenly she is all smitten by Dafeng and has abandoned all her principles (not that she has much in the first place) to "help" him.

Basically, their relationship is simple: two equally immoral, snobbish people who came into a rather transactional relationship, where one is seeking a semblance of love and the other just monetary gains. There you have it, their overwhelming love trade story.

Anyway, back to the point, Ding started insulting Dafeng's mother, Fang Qiaqia again (just because y'know, she is so gutsy) calling her someone who has been jailed before and she was an expired political figure...which were the exact thing I wanted to say to Fang's smirking face, so buuurn! I love how the evil people are fighting among themselves, because they have absolutely no respect for each other nor any sense of moral guidelines. Heh xD

So finally Dafeng is sick and tired of her attitude and flew to defend his mother, which made his mother extremely happy now that her evil-puppet son has returned to the puppeteer. Dafeng demanded her to stop insulting his mother and that he is not going anywhere with her.

Ding pointed her finger at him in this threatening and derogatory manner that if he doesn't go today, then they are OVER. I think she expects him to grovel at her feet again.

In response to that, Dafeng opened the door to show her out.
(Chorus of "Hallelujah!" from me)

After she leaves, Dafeng's mom worries that it is truly over for them, which means that they can no longer exploit her status etc, and Dafeng seemed pretty nonchalant. I am guessing that he is either aware that Ding is sort of in love with him, or that he has reached his limit of tolerance.

Then we are shown the pub, where Ding is drinking heavily and in this fuming rage. She hissed at this man who tried to hit on her, and took to the dance floor to show us her sexiness....which was a debatable trait in her because her dance was not sexy. It was like this rather forced shimmy of the body, jerking her hips left to right and waving her arms around. I can understand the show is trying to tell us that she is supposed to be a good and sexy dancer, but she looks like an angry dancer.

While she dances, she replays in her head all the insults that Fang has flung at her and fumed some more. Heh xD

Okay, I am gonna end this post here~ I am not sure if a lot of you are interested to find out more, so I don't really want to blog a hideously long post where no one reads haha.

Work hard, even if you feel that you will screw up anyway

I don't even know why I am wasting time during exam period to type this, but then I suddenly felt this rushing coming into me and I know that I really wanted to tell you guys this:

Even if you feel like you are going to fail or screw up real bad, don't give up (like I did before Biology test). I regret not working harder and going to watch television instead because I felt so doomed that I didn't want to face it anymore.

Just keep going, keep doing, don't think about how the outcomes will be, like "I am going to fail this." or "I should have started revision earlier, I am done for this time."

Yes, you should probably have started revision early to prevent this, but then you didn't, and you are done with those times that you cannot return to, so leave it behind and surge forward. Focus on now and only now.

If you think you are going to screw up, then try to minimize the extent that you are going to screw up. Like I think that I am going to fail my Literature this time because I didn't study more than 1 hour in total for it the entire June holidays, I am going to cram in at least another hour some time during tomorrow...despite every cell in me wanting to just ignore the presence of the subject.

For everyone who is taking economics tomorrow, best wishes and all the best, and if you want condensed economics notes, tell me and I will email you haha, I downloaded a copy from somewhere for my friend and have the soft copy ^_^

Curél Sebum Care

Sponsored Review

Did you know that sebum build-up in your skin can cause your skin to become more alkaline and lead to skin problems in the long run?

Not only so, it is also a key cause of acne and spots on the skin as the sebum can aggregate with the dirt on your skin to clog your pores, causing inflammation.

If you suffer from relatively oily skin like I do, why not consider Curel's new Sebum care series?

Curel Sebum Care Series - Face wash, lotion and moisture gel
What we probably did not know is that oily skin and sensitive skin often comes together, and not exclusively. This makes me realize why in the past when I used certain face washes, they may feel quite rough on the skin and causes the skin to feel tender and dry out.

This is Curel's foaming face wash!

Curel Sebum Care Foaming wash
One of the best thing about foaming face washing is of course the fact that foam is lighter and it is also more airy, thus easier for the foam molecules to gently remove the sebum build-up from your skin without being too harsh on one's skin! This foaming wash is no different: the texture is soft, light and incredibly smooth, almost like we are holding air.

This is how the bottle looks like from the inside! I am also completely partial to the pump mechanism because it means that we can retrieve amounts of the face wash without contaminating the rest, which is a key problem for germaphobes like myself when using squeeze or scoop face washes.

One of the even better things about this face wash is how the pump allows one to dispense a suitable amount of face wash depending on how hard you press: I have come across those which dispense copious amounts regardless of how lightly you press the pump. Like, com'on! My face isn't that big!

Information on the package!
I have to say I am really impressed with the amount of information they put on the packaging in an attempt to educate the consumers on the need to remove sebum because of the adverse effects it can have on a person's skin.

Whilst the instruction suggests 3-4 pumps, I think that 1 pump (and sometimes I use half) is more than enough because seriously your face is not that big, and the foam gives a relatively decent coverage.

For the Foaming Facewash, I am super impressed by how well it is able to remove oil from my face and also keep my face relatively matte, and I won't hesitate to give it a 9/10! I deducted one point because of the relatively higher price: S$19.80 for 150ml. That makes it almost 20 dollars!

Next up, we have the sebum care lotion!

Curel Sebum Care Lotion
Like the face wash, the sebum care lotion comes in a pump bottle to allow one to dispense amounts in a hassle free, (relatively) drip free manner!

I love the frosted glass look of the bottle, it looks so chic
The texture is light, moisturizing and is absorbed almost instantly upon application. It is capable of hydrating the skin for an extended period of time, and in dry, cooler weathers, your skin will stay relatively matte, whilst in hot humid and sultry days, your skin may feel a little damp after a while.

I haven't been a huge fan of toner ever since finishing my previous one because I find it too annoying since there hasn't been a time whereby my toner does not drop from my hand to the floor whilst I am trying to pour them out.

Such a situation won't happen with this one!

Can you see the streak of the lotion? It has a water like consistency and is very very easy to massage into your skin:) For this, I would give it a 10/10! Careful not to press the pump too hard or it will shoot out a stream of the lotion! ^~^"

The lotion cost S$24.90, which is another slightly high price, but it can probably last you a while since only a pump is needed for each use!

Last but not least, we have the moisturizer!
Curel Sebum Care Moisture Gel
Like its predecessors, it also comes in a pump bottle...wow I am be getting really outdated because each time I open the package to see the pump bottle, I have never ceased to squeal in excitement before. Yes, my love for pump dispensers is unlimited and long lasting!

Curel Sebum Care Moisture Gel
The texture for the moisture gel is slightly heavier, which is to be expected since the product says "gel" and not lotion and stuff, but it is still relatively smooth and not suffocating as one usually expects gel to be.

In terms of hydration, it does a fairly good job, but I think the catch is that with good hydrating qualities, it seems to also speed up the oiling process of my face! Not sure if other people experience it - it could be just me and my overactive oil glands.

Whilst I love the hydrating effects of the gel, perhaps in our local weather, it would better if we wear this when we are going to stay in an air-conditioned area for long periods (because the air tends to be drier), instead of when we are going out into the heat. I feel that the gel tends to get sticky and more uncomfortable when I am sweating, but it is excellent for use in air-conditioned rooms, or in dry winter weathers overseas.

The moisture gel costs $34.90 for 120ml, and I am guessing that the higher price means that it is going to be an effective treatment for the skin! I am so going to finish my entire bottle!

For the moisture gel, I would give it a 6/10, because I am still baffled as to why it causes my face to oil more a little quickly heh xD

There we have it! The post face-wash skin treatment set!

After reading this, I am sure you would love to try out the Curel Sebum care products for yourself! Fret not, you can head over to Curel Singapore's Facebook page to request for a sample and they will mail it to you! How simple is that! xD

Thanks for reading this blog post and I hope that you have learnt more about this product!

Take care and till next post, bye!

Megrhythm Steam Eye Mask

Sponsored Review

How many of you uses the computer, or at least uses your eyes extensively, for multiple hours a day?

If you are like me who loves watching drama series on the internet or simply just using the computer for recreational purposes, you might have also experience dry, tired eyes. Not only so, as students, we have to spend long hours each day poring our our notes and revision materials, which makes our eyes even more strained and lethargic at the end of a long day.

After a hectic day at work or at school, how do you usually relax?

Gradbear sleeping with his eyes open
For me, I like lazing around on the bed and taking naps, even if I am not that tired, I just like snuggling into my comforter because it feels that great.

Cereal?
Eating is definitely another top option!

Recently I am introduced to another method of relaxation that will not only help to soothe my eyes but also rejuvenate them- needless to say, I was extremely excited to try it out.

Unscented Steam Eye mask
This is the Steam Eye Mask by Kao, and it is supposed to produce steam naturally (meaning you don't have to do anything but to put it on) when you open the sachet, heating up the mask to about 40 degree celsius or a little more/less to destress your eyes. After a long day of using your eyes at work, why not pamper your eyes?

A box like the one above contains 5 pieces of masks.

A single sachet looks like that:

This is how the eye mask looks inside the sachet.

I thought it was super interesting that Kao paid attention to put the cute purple and white spotted pattern on the mask: I didn't expect them to be so detailed, I mean afterall, it is just a use and throw kind of mask right?

This is the other side that you will see.

You are supposed to gently break apart the joining segment in the center so that you can tuck each ear into the respective hole to hook the eyemask close to your eyes. Please try not to be a genius like my mom and yank out the entire ear-hook thinking that it is the protective sheet, hehe xD

It will then look like that! There, you can wear it!

Impression
I have used the mask three times so far, and I am pretty impressed with how well it can warm up once it has been exposed to air. For myself, as I spend long hours using the computer and reading my school notes, my eyes get tired really easily, and tend to feel really dry and sometimes blurred which is why such eye relaxation is really necessary to ensure the long term benefit of our eyes.

If you are busy person like I am, and have really little time to relax your eyes, or you just don't want to spend too much time go for SPAs and facials or sit with a face mask, then you can consider this! The steam eye mask treatment requires a mere 10 MINUTES to refresh and brighten up your eyes!

The gentle heating from the mask is a refreshing change from all the previous cold gel eye mask that I have to pre-cool in the fridge before use, and this one is so much more convenient and really really innovative! I feel that the lovely heat is especially good in winter and in air-conditioned spaces, where my eyeballs tend to feel drier and maybe even colder?

I also love the fact that the product is super hygienic because each mask is for single use only (so never never try to microwave or heat up a used one please!) and packaged into individual sachets for convenient usage. Afterwards you can just throw the package and the mask away! :)

Not only so, the loops for the ears also mean that you can use the mask in any position as it will NOT fall from your face whilst you are enjoying the steaming session!

Check out the video demonstration!

Here is a demonstration of myself with the mask, and sorry for the really messy hair and everything because I sort of dozed off whilst using it... xD

Oh yes, from experience, sometimes the warmth may not be comfortable for yourself, depending on the individual really. If you think that you feel the mask getting a little warmer than you like, here is the trick to using it: don't hook your ears!

In that way, it won't be plastered so closely to your face and also enable airflow around your eyes such that the temperature is comfortable! :)

Four fragrances available!
Steam eye mask is available in four different fragrances! Mmm..aromatherapy whilst enjoying the mask? Sounds good to me!

If you are interested to try out a mask, do head over to http://web.kao.com/sg/megrhythm/ to request for a sample! It is really worth a try and somemore they will mail the item to you, so why not right? If you are already convinced and can't wait to buy these, you can get them at Watsons and Guardian outlets!

Wait wait, there is more! There is an ongoing instagram contest held by Kao where 10 lucky winners get to walk away with the steam eye mask sets worth $50! The winners will be announced by the 7th of August 2014~!

The contest is ending 31st of July, so head over to Instagram and follow @MegRhythmSG to find out more!

Till next time, see you!

Klarity Lasertox CC Miracle White Lotion

Sponsored Review

Looking for something to help you lighten your skin? Why not check out Lasertox by Klarity?

Lasertox CC cream by Klarity
I was amazed when I received the product, I mean, just check out the beautiful and mysterious shimmering surface: the multi-coloured hue reminds me of the glittering faces of a well-polished diamond.

About the Product
Lasertox CC cream is enriched with diamond powder, which is supposed to give you a healthy glow after application. Not only so, it also has the added goodness of rose extract that is a powerful source of antioxidants that will help to keep you skin youthful.

Upon further research, I was amazed to find out that rose extract is not only a powerful anti-oxidant, but also great in reducing acne scars (and other scarring) as well as blemishes, as it contains "80% essential fatty acids which help to regenerate skin cells and repair damaged skin tissue" (source)

Thus when you are using the CC cream, you are not only improving the temporary appearance of your skin through a superficial coverage, but also improving the long term condition of the skin through the benefits of rose extract.

Klarity Lasertox CC Miracle White Lotion
As you can see from the picture above, Lasertox CC is the first CC cream without colorant, which explains why the product is a white shade, instead of the skin-colored tones we usually see in BB and CC creams.

Not only so the CC cream is waterproof, which means that it is suitable for you to wear to the beach or on rainy days where you would come into contact with the water for sure: we won't want streaks of white to be running down our face, would we?

Check out the 11-in-1 functions of Lasertox - warning - be prepared to be amazed:

WHITENING
PURIFY
REPAIR
FIRMING
SMOOTH
SOOTHE
HYDRATE
TONE
ANTI-AGING
SUN-SCREEN
WATER-PROOF
Can we say wow?

You would think that with all the water-proof, soothing, hydrating and lightening functions, the cream is going to be thick and un-breathable on the skin: that's where you are wrong.

Contrary to my initial belief that I would have all the pores on my skin clogged up, the CC cream is actually very very light, cooling and feels like a comfortable moisturizer on the skin rather than the heavier texture of BB creams. Furthermore, there is no need to worry about it clogging your pores as it is non-comedogenic!

Not only so it is supposed to help reduce acne, lighten acne marks, soothe itchiness, and lighten scar marks over time, remember the rose extract?

Experience
Let us first talk about the smell.

Lasertox has a light sweet scent that is comfortable and not overpowering, and I love this factor about it as other BB and CC creams tend to have this chemical-cosmetic smell in them that may be quite unpleasant at times.

And imagine you have to wear that CC cream everyday at work out when you are out, of course you want to smell faintly of roses than a chemical spill right?

Not only so, it provides a good adjustable coverage for the skin. This means that depending on the amount applied, you can either lighten you skin tone by perhaps half a shade to one shade. This is a clear advantage over the heavier coverage provided by my old BB cream, with those you just look one uniform shade, without being able to control the colour much.

I have demonstrated in the photo how the skin will appear with and without the cream: yes I am aware that the paler side looks too pale, but that is only because I layered on the cream thrice as the camera could not properly capture the difference initially. So I thought I would put more to make the difference clearer~!

When I put on the first later with a pea-sized amount of cream, my skin just looked more radiant and smooth, without observable lightening effect. With the second repeat, it became considerably lighter and brighter, which I think is the suitable shade for daily use. The third repeat was really just for my incompetent camera  xD

I tried it on my face as well, and it felt great, like a fresh, hydrating lotion that doubled as a sunblock and blemish-coverage. It is not too sticky, and most of the lotion are absorbed by the skin after five minutes, leaving a healthy, hydrated glow frequently seen in Korean stars.

If you are interested in the product, do head over to Secretive.sg and check out their demonstration video as well as other Klarity products. 30g of Lasertox cost S$29.00, but it can last you for quite a while as you don't have to apply copious amount each time: a small amount already does the trick!

Sweaty palms & fingers and fibrous skulls

I have really sweaty palms and fingers, and it becomes especially obvious when I am in an air-conditioned room or when I hold a pen for an extended period of time.

Sometimes I wet the paper I am writing in with blotches of dampness because of my overactive palmic-sweat glands.

I drew you guys a picture to demonstrate how the sweat glands/ cells in my palm and fingers work.

I suppose it could be rather disturbing on a molecular level.

Overactive sweat glands
I really don't find my palms sweaty at room temperature, it is always in air-conditioned room that my palms are exceptionally sweaty, like the colder my body gets, the warmer my palms are.

Sometimes they get like really clammy and cold. My mom calls it the "reptile-hands".

Not too enticing an idea, me thinks.

This is my artistic impression of an overactive sweat cell/ gland.

The greatest disadvantage about have sweaty palms is that I always end up smudging what I write on my homework, or leaving damp round blobs where I rest my left palm to hold the paper in place, or multiple tiny round blobs where I cautiously pressed the paper down with just a few fingers.

I think that teachers sometimes suspect that homework depresses me so much that I cry onto it while attempting them, since my paper is often crinkling and looked like they had dried from some unidentified puddles.

I tried to imagine if my General Paper teacher ever asked me about why my homework looks flimsy, crinkly and damp.

I would be like,
"I can't help it ma'am, my palms and fingers drool onto the worksheet."

I drew a picture of myself looking perfectly stern whilst explaining that.

I can sort of predict my GP teacher's reaction.

To the minds of detractors, every reason could be an excuse.

Personally, I wouldn't believe it if someone handed me a soaked piece of work and claimed that their palms sweated onto it. I would wonder if they were so hardworking that they did the work while bathing.

Anyway, I don't really like my sweaty palms or fingers, just saying.

I was also told a while ago by a friend that when you get brain tumors, your skull will supposedly change shape.

I thought it was the oddest and most un-biological thing I have heard.

According to my friend, we should be able to feel it on our head if we have a brain tumor because our skull will sort of convex out when there is a tumor.

"Your skull is fibrous."
I tried to imagine it in a biological way, but I couldn't. So I had to dramatize this in the manner of a cartoon.

Yes, your tumor will ostensibly deform your skull.

The argument went like that:
Another friend of ours complained of a persistent migraine and wondered out loud if it could be a brain tumor, at which my friend with the fibrous-skull claimed that if you have a tumor, you should be able to feel a lump on your head: if you don't feel a lump, then you don't have a tumor.

I tried to tell the person with the fibrous-skull that you cannot possibly feel a tumor on your head because you have a skull, and your tumor grows inside the skull.

He confidently told me that nope, your skull will protrude because your skull "is fibrous and will change shape".

I privately disagreed with him, but because he is a person who likes to pursue his point until everyone concedes and also because it was during a lesson, I decided to just nod and agree with him.

After which I asked Clarissa and Denyse, because I was too lazy to google that.

Our conversation went like that:
Clarissa: Does he learn biology?
Me: Nope, I don't think so.
Clarissa: Figures.
Denyse: You can't feel a tumor through the skull! If your skull deforms that easily then you would have cracked it long ago.
I thought they made sense. I mean, if my skull was that malleable, mine would have resembled the surface of the moon from all the times I cracked my head against hard surfaces right?

I asked my mom too and she figured that if we could feel for brain tumors, why bother doing CT scan? I thought that was a good point.

But still, I am curious. Does anyone know for sure? Or won't mind checking and telling me? I really want to know, heh.

Tell next time, see you all!

Facebook :/

One of our life's greatest arrogance is the assumption that others are automatically interested in our affairs.

Yup, I am closing my Facebook account again this time, and hopefully I won't bother opening it again anytime before Block Test 2 (and hopefully won't open it after Block Test 2).

Before you partake in some conclusion jumping and finger pointing, hear me out. I am not closing it entirely due to exams: closing an account never necessitates good revision, it produces a facade of diligence. If you are unmotivated and distracted (like I have been in the past Term), closing Facebook is not going to help you (much).

I am shutting it primarily because I can't even remember why I decided to reopen it in the first place. Maybe reading some news updates from History and Current Affairs society was mildly enriching, as was checking out some things I have missed in the two months plus of absence from the buzzing social media. Oh, maybe the updates from Chalany High Heels was rather cool too, not to mention very very distracting.

Anyways, maybe it is part of the phase that I am going through that I am increasingly hermetic and anti-social because I am so very exhausted most of the time, both mentally and physically. Or it could be how everything is wearing out my nerve endings, leaving me short fused and impatient. In summary, I am too tired to be interested in what is going on in the school social life, because knowing things is tiring in itself. Not to mention that it takes up some memory space.

I came to the realization that the day we stopped updating everything single thing that passes through our mind, every change of emotions and sentiments and every thing that we do on the internet is the day we realize that perhaps, no one is seriously going to be interested in what we are saying. It is like entering this room crowded with people and everyone is talking and commenting simultaneously, listening with the intent of replying rather than understanding. Facebook, at times, felt like a stifling, virtual version of real life.

More than that, Facebook felt like a modernized Vanity Fair (I need to get this book, it is no more than $5.00 in Popular, and the low price feel like a back-handed insult to Thackeray). Selfies, groupies, selca, OOTD, Hair-of-the-day, Nonsense-of-the-day are all tolerable individually, but when presented as a whole, it becomes tedious and exhausting.

I am as guilty as charged for being a participant in the Vanity Fair that I have only so lately come to recognize it for itself, and I suppose that it could be an anti-movement against the internet and social-hub? Is that what you call it? I sometimes didn't want to be an active part of the activity that was both tiring and in a manner, staged. At other times, I too indulge in it.

There is so much conflict and dilemma, confusion and an undercurrent of stress and annoyance. So, no more facebook, no more scowling at people's posts or making funny faces.

Forget RIP maybe? Start LIP: Live In Peace instead.

P.S. This Friday to next Monday are going to be some really terribly tough days, I hope I can push through without short-circuiting or snapping at people...too much.
